Extruded Aluminium H | I Sections

aluminum I sections

Aluminum I/H beams—also called aluminium universal beams—feature two parallel flanges joined by a central web, providing an excellent stiffness‑to‑weight ratio for beams, columns, and frames. They control deflection effectively and are easier to handle than steel due to lower weight and inherent corrosion resistance.

Common alloys include 6061‑T6, 6005A‑T6, and 6082‑T6 for higher structural loads, and 6063‑T5 where fine finishes and tighter tolerances are required. Finishes such as clear/black anodizing or powder coating enhance durability, and the profiles are easy to cut, drill, weld, and fasten.

I | H Aluminum Channel Common Sizes

As a widely used structural profile, I/H aluminum sections in 6063-T5 are typically offered with balanced flange and web proportions for efficient stiffness-to-weight and clean finishing.

Material Options:

  • 6063-T5: Optimized for precise extrusions, smooth surface quality, and tight dimensional control; ideal where moderate strength and premium finishing (anodizing, powder coating) are priorities.
  • 6061-T6: Balanced strength, weldability, and machinability; suitable for structural frames, fixtures, and general-purpose load-bearing applications.
  • 6005A-T6: Higher strength than 6063 with good extrudability; well-suited for medium-to-heavy structural members requiring better stiffness-to-weight.
  • 6082-T6: Among the strongest common 6xxx alloys with good fatigue performance; preferred for demanding structural beams, columns, and high-load assemblies.

Custom Extrusion and Tooling

We provide end-to-end custom extrusion based on your drawings or physical samples. Our process includes die design and fabrication, trial extrusion to produce test pieces, and shipment of samples for your approval before mass production. We operate approximately 40 extrusion lines covering small to large profiles, with a maximum press capacity of 6,000 tons to accommodate heavy sections and high-volume runs.

Custom Surface Finishing

We offer a comprehensive range of finishes to meet aesthetic, corrosion-resistance, and functional requirements. Options include:

  • Anodizing: Clear, black, bronze, hard anodizing; controlled thickness (e.g., 8–25 µm for architectural, 25–60 µm for hard anodizing); matte, satin, or bright finishes.
  • Powder coating: Polyester, epoxy, or hybrid systems; wide RAL color palette; gloss, matte, or textured effects; outdoor UV-stable formulations available.
  • Electrophoretic coating (E-coat): Uniform, thin-film protection with excellent color consistency; suitable for complex geometries.

Common I | H aluminum sections are supplied in silver or black. Silver is typically achieved via mill finish or clear (natural) anodizing. Black can be produced by black anodizing or powder coating. For decorative trim I | H sections, a wider range of effects is available, including brushed, polished, bead-blasted, textured powder coats, and specialty anodized tones.

Machining and Logo Marking

We offer precision CNC machining (cutting, milling, drilling, tapping, countersinking, slotting) with deburring and tight tolerances per drawing. For logos or IDs, we can apply simple, durable marks via laser engraving or screen printing on anodized or coated surfaces; size and placement are confirmed with a sample before production.
