How does Custom Aluminum Profile Work
With extensive experience in aluminum extrusion, HTS-ALU manufactures aluminum profiles with a wide range of structural configurations. Different profile structures require different extrusion die designs, production methods, and process control according to profile geometry, wall thickness, strength requirements, and application scenarios.
1. Drawing Analysis
We accept CAD drawings, STEP files, PDF drawings, and reference images. Sample-based profile measurement and drawing development are also available for custom aluminum extrusion projects.
2. Tooling Development
Tooling drawings will be provided for customer confirmation before mold production. New extrusion dies are typically completed within 7 days, followed by trial extrusion and sample approval before mass production.
3. Extrusion & Heat Treatment
Custom aluminum profiles are produced through extrusion and heat treatment processes including T5, T6, and T66. Production time for one full container (approximately 26 tons) is usually around 1 week.
4. CNC Machining & Fabrication
Precision cutting, drilling, punching, milling, tapping, and welding services are available. STEP drawings and machining tolerance requirements are recommended for custom fabrication projects.
5. Surface Finishing
Available surface finishes include anodizing, electrophoresis, powder coating, PVDF coating, wood grain transfer, sandblasting, and brushed finishes. For custom colors, customers can provide color samples or standard RAL color codes.
6. Packaging & Shipment
Protective packaging, pallet packaging, labeling, and export shipment services are available according to customer requirements. Custom logo marking on aluminum profiles is also supported.
Common Aluminum Profile Alloy Grades
Choosing the right alloy and heat treatment for industrial aluminum profiles is vital for achieving optimal performance across various applications. Our team of experts assists in selecting the best material grades to provide the required tensile strength, corrosion resistance, and workability. Factors such as environmental conditions, mechanical loads, and manufacturing processes are considered to recommend the most suitable aluminum alloy.
6061: This is a precipitation-hardened aluminum alloy known for its excellent mechanical properties. It contains magnesium and silicon as its primary alloying elements, making it suitable for high-stress applications.
6063: Known for its good extrudability and surface finish, this alloy is often used in architectural and structural applications. It primarily contains silicon and magnesium as alloying elements, offering good corrosion resistance.
6005: This alloy is frequently used in structural applications due to its strength and weldability. It has a composition similar to 6061 but is specifically designed for better extrudability.
6082: Known for its medium strength and excellent corrosion resistance, this alloy is often employed in highly stressed applications. It features a high percentage of magnesium and silicon, contributing to its strength and workability.
Surface Treatments for Aluminum Profiles
Anodizing forms a hard, protective oxide layer on the surface of tubular aluminum, increasing resistance to corrosion. This process allows for a variety of color options—like silver, black, champagne, and gold—creating a smooth and decorative finish. Film thickness typically ranges from 8 to 15μm, and can go up to 20μm for extra protection.
Powder coating involves spraying dry powders onto tubular aluminum and curing them at high temperatures. This produces a thick, tough layer in a wide range of vibrant colors, providing excellent protection against wear, impacts, and UV exposure. Coatings are usually 60–120μm thick.
Wood grain finishes give tubular aluminum a natural wood appearance through a special heat transfer or sublimation process. This creates a realistic wood look combined with the strength and low maintenance of aluminum. A base powder coating is applied first (typically 60–80μm thick), with the wood pattern embedded into this layer for lasting results.
